⚡ 30-Second Quick Check

Before diving into specific issues, do these three things right now:

#ActionWhy
1Water tank full + seated firmly?A loose tank causes half of 'machine won't work' calls. Push down until it clicks.
2Steam knob fully clockwise? If it's even slightly open when powered on, the machine throws an error.
3Power cycle.Off at the wall → wait 10 seconds → back on. Clears temporary sensor glitches.

Fixed? ☕ Enjoy. Still stuck? Find your issue below.

🔴 Error Codes

Your H10A shows error codes on the LED display. Here's what they mean and exactly what to do.

CodeMeaningDIY Fix
E-1Steam knob is open at power-onTurn the knob fully clockwise until it stops. Error clears immediately.
E-2No water detectedFill tank → reseat firmly → press brew button once or briefly open steam wand.
E-3Temperature sensor faultNot DIY. Short circuit or loose connection inside. Contact us — this needs a technician.
E-4Heating system failureTry a different wall socket first (weak sockets can trigger it). If persists, not DIY — contact us.

💧 Water Leaking from Steam Wand

Check first: Is the drip tray overflowing? Empty it.

If it's a steady drip even with the knob closed:

  1. Turn the steam knob fully clockwise — firm pressure.
  2. Run the steam wand for 5 seconds into a cup, then close tightly.
  3. If water still drips, the internal steam valve seal needs replacement.

Normal: Some condensation drips after steaming are expected. Keep a cloth handy.

☎️ Contact us if: The knob won't stop the drip even when fully closed → valve seal replacement needed.

💧 Water Under the Machine

  1. Check if the drip tray is overflowing.
  2. Remove the water tank, dry its base, reseat it firmly.
  3. Wipe under the machine, place on a dry surface, and watch where water appears.

☎️ Contact us if: Water is coming from INSIDE the machine (not the tank or tray). Stop using it immediately.

📊 Pressure Gauge Doesn't Move

This is almost always normal. The gauge ONLY moves during espresso extraction — when the portafilter is locked in and the pump is running. It does NOT show pressure at idle, during warmup, or during steaming.

Test it:

  1. Lock the portafilter with coffee into the group head.
  2. Press the single or double shot button.
  3. Watch the gauge — it should climb into the espresso zone within seconds.

Gauge moves during extraction but not at other times? That's how it's designed. No problem.

☎️ Contact us if: The gauge stays at zero during an actual extraction with a properly loaded portafilter.

🔧 Clicking Noise from Side Panel

Only during warmup? That's thermal expansion — metal parts expanding as they heat up. It's normal and harmless. Most H10As do this.

Constant even after warmup — or clicking when you press the panel?

This is a cosmetic issue, not a manufacturing defect. The side panel mounting clips inside the machine have loosened slightly during shipping. Here's the 5-minute fix from HiBREW:

  1. Unplug the machine. Safety first.
  2. Remove the top cover. Unscrew the top panel — it lifts off.
  3. Re-fasten the mounting clips on the inside of the side panels. These are small metal clips that hold the panel flush against the body. Push or tighten them so the panel sits snug.
  4. Reinstall the top cover. Screw it back in place.

📌 Important to know: Panel clicking and other cosmetic fitment issues are not covered under warranty. Your warranty covers manufacturing defects — heating, pump, PCB, sensor failures. Cosmetic panel alignment is a quick DIY fix. If you'd rather not do it yourself, we're happy to guide you over a video call.

☎️ Contact us if: Loud, persistent mechanical noise from INSIDE the machine (not the panel) that doesn't stop after warmup.

🌡️ Coffee Not Hot Enough

Espresso brews at ~93°C but cools rapidly in a cold cup. Here's the fix:

  1. Pre-heat your cup. Run a blank shot (no coffee) into your cup before brewing. Warms both the cup and portafilter.
  2. Check your PID temperature. Make sure it's set to 93–95°C.
  3. Pre-heat the portafilter. Lock it in and run hot water through it before adding coffee.

✅ Most 'cold coffee' complaints are solved by pre-heating alone. Try it — it's dramatic.

☎️ Contact us if: Coffee is still lukewarm after pre-heating AND temperature is set to 95°C → heating system may need checking (related to E-4).

💨 Steam Wand Has No Pressure / Only Drips Water

This is usually technique, not hardware:

  1. Purge first. Before frothing, open the steam knob for 3–5 seconds to clear water from the wand tip. Water comes out first, then steam. Wait for the steam.
  2. Let it reach steam temperature. After pulling a shot, the machine needs ~15–20 seconds to heat up to steam temp. The display shows when ready.
  3. Submerge the tip properly. Just below the milk surface — not deep in. You should hear a 'ch-ch-ch' sound.

☎️ Contact us if: You've purged, waited for steam-ready, and still get only weak steam or water → steam valve or pump may need attention.

⚡ Machine Shuts Down When Pressing a Button

  1. Only one specific button? Try the others. If they work, that button's circuit may have failed.
  2. Started after descaling? Descaling solution can trigger electrical protection. Run 2–3 tanks of plain water through.
  3. Power cycle. Off at the wall for 30 seconds, then retry.

☎️ Contact us if: All buttons cause shutdown, or one button consistently shuts the machine off even after power cycling.
